The Goodyear Sports Centre in Craigavon played host to the second set of Northern Ireland Tug of War Association (NITOWA) Championships on Saturday evening, with four teams vying for supremacy in the 560kg weight category. After a closely fought competition, Richhill emerged victorious, retaining their title from the previous year.
With teams weighed-in on the previous evening, pullers had ample time to prepare for the intense competition that lay ahead. The group stage quickly identified Country Club and Richhill as the two strongest teams, showcasing their dominance throughout the preliminary rounds.
The semifinals pitted Country Club against Ballyhegan and Richhill against Slieve Croob. Country Club and Richhill proved to be too formidable, showcasing their unwavering strength and composure to advance to the final with straight wins.
The championship final was a nail-biting affair, with Richhill and Country Club locked in a closely contested battle. After a series of heart-pounding pulls, Richhill emerged triumphant, defending their title with a well-deserved victory.
